Statewide: May 19-25 is National Safe Boating Week, which calls special attention to the importance of wearing a life jacket, boating sober, and other boating safety tips anytime while out on the water. The Division of Watercraft and its boating partners are conducting special life jacket wear events on Saturday, May 19. Throughout Safe Boating Week there will be boating safety education classes and free courtesy vessel safety inspections to help keep you safe on our waterways.
Upcoming Events
May 19: Nearly two dozen Ready, Set, Wear It life jacket safety awareness events are being held around the state
May 19-28: Free Vessel Safety Checks; various locations statewide
June 2 (East Fork/Clermont County), June 8 (Alum Creek/Delaware County): Power Boating Basics skills course. This hands-on course costs $47 and is open to persons age 18 and older who have previously completed an approved boating safety class. This new course provides inexperienced boaters with the basic skills needed to properly and safely operate a power boat. Call to register and for more program information.
