2014 Tree Canopy Enhancement Program (TCEP)
The Tree Canopy Enhancement Program offers the opportunity to restore some trees that were removed during the Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB) eradication effort in southwest Ohio. Property owners can request up to 10 trees per property using the TCEP application.
Application Deadline: March 14, 2014
Tree Pickup: April 4, 2014 from 8am-noon at East Fork State Park south parking lot (3294 Elklick Road, Bethel, OH 45106)
Trees Eligible for Restoration
The intent of this program is to restore lost canopy cover. Property owners can request a one-for-one replacement for each eligible yard tree up to 10 trees. Eligible trees are those that were removed from areas that do not support regeneration: maintained residential lawns, municipal streets or parks, and commercial landscapes.
Trees removed from areas where regeneration occurs naturally -- such as woodlots, thickets, stream banks, fencerows, and non-maintained areas -- are not eligible for restoration.
Request Your Restoration Trees
Use the TCEP Application [pdf 209Kb] to tell us the number and types of trees you want replaced. A copy of the application also will be delivered to affected property owners. Applications are due March 14, 2014.
Replacement trees will be approximately 1-2” in caliper.
To obtain your tree(s) please indicate your preference for pickup/delivery on your application form.
Trees will be distributed on April 4, 2014 from 8am to Noon at East Fork State Park.
Planting Your Restoration Trees
The property owner is responsible for properly planting and maintaining the restoration trees.
Restoration trees must be planted on the affected property but they do not have to be planted in the same location as the removed trees. Restoration trees must be located so that their future growth will not conflict with existing above- or below-ground utility wires, or reduce vehicular or pedestrian mobility or visibility.
Restoration trees are not guaranteed following distribution or delivery.
ODNR Division of Forestry can provide technical assistance for proper tree selection, installation, and maintenance as needed.
Contact Wendi Van Buren via email or call (513) 932-6836 for technical assistance on restoration trees or questions about the program.
